Sophie’s Street Feast raises over £3,000 to support Toybox and YMCA MK

Press • Dec 2024

Sophie’s Street Feast held at MK City Discovery Centre back in September, successfully raised an impressive total of £3,032 in support of MK-based Toybox and YMCA MK. This incredible community-centred festival brought together the best of Milton Keynes Street Food vendors, some brilliant local bands and DJs as well as thousands of attendees for a day of diverse street food, live music, and celebration—with the ultimate goal of giving back.

Reflecting on the day Sophie said: "I'm thrilled with the success of this year's Sophie's Street Feast! The feedback has been incredible, and the fundraising total is truly amazing. I'm so grateful to all our sponsors, including QLM Search and Brioche Pasquier, our vendors, and all the wonderful attendees who made the day so special. It's a privilege to organise this event and contribute to our community. I can't wait for 2025!

This year, the event had a brand-new layout and took the festival to the back of Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre. There was an incredible stretch tent by The Stretch Tent Company where people could sit, grab a drink from Papi’s Cocktails and listen to live music on the Yamaha Stage whilst dodging the rain showers. Our line up featured: Bop State, Ernest Herb, Rory O’Kane and Tom Heasman and Philippa Steel who were all INCREDIBLE. We are so grateful to them for donating their time and they had a blast! Saf’s Kitchen, Good Times Café, Oh My Cakery and Baja Cantina were located on the back field and the queues did not stop all day. Saf’s Pakora Hut got some real love on the day and sold out very quickly."

In the car park of MK City Discovery Centre, there were DJ sets throughout the day, the charities and more vendors. A huge shout out to Demi from Diva D Entertainment, Paul Viccars and The Riaz for joining us at short notice and donating their time to the event. The vibes were on point!

Lime Face, Chouxly Scrumptious, King’s Comfort Food, Fold Me Close, Willen Ice Cream Co., Now Now South African Food, Milk & Beans, Howe & Co. Fish & Chips, Amani Kitchen, JW Event Cart and Papi’s Cocktails were all out the front and thankfully the rain kept off for long enough for people to enjoy their food outside. On the day many vendors had created specials for the event with proceeds supporting our charities. A special mention to Carlo from Milk & Beans who sourced a Kenyan coffee for the day. Toybox have been working with its partners in Kenya to rebuild street children’s lives after the recent flooding in Nairobi, so this was particularly poignant this year.

The Discovery Centre bar was serving the amazing Street Feast Pilsner by Roman Way Brewery. All drinks were enjoyed in the event ‘I Love Milton Keynes’ reusable cups, designed by Spinks Creative. The cups featured key landmarks in MK and were so fun! These were sold for £1 each with all proceeds going to the charities.

"We are thrilled to see our community come together to support such a meaningful cause despite the challenging weather on the day,” said Naomi, Toybox’s Marketing Director. "Thanks to everyone’s generosity and enthusiasm, we exceeded our fundraising goals and had a fantastic time doing it.”

Plans are already underway for 2025’s Street Feast, planned for Sunday 31st August taking place at MK City Discovery Centre in Bradwell Abbey once again and next year’s festival, which promises to be even bigger and better.
