Pray with us: Flooding in Delhi

Updates • India • Sep 2025

We’ve recently shared in our special report how the climate crisis is making life even harder for street children. Now, we’re seeing it unfold in real-time.

In recent weeks, Delhi has experienced severe flooding following record-breaking rainfall. August saw over 400 mm of rain - 72% above the long-term average - making it the wettest August since 2010.

The impact has been devastating, especially for families living in informal settlements. CHETNA, Toybox’s local partner, recently carried out a rapid response assessment in communities on the Yamuna River floodplains.

In three of the worst-affected areas where children in Toybox-supported projects live and work, temporary shelters and school buildings used as relief camps have been damaged and drinking water sources have been contaminated.

Informal livelihoods have been disrupted, and the risk of waterborne and vector-borne diseases has increased, particularly among women and children.

With Toybox’s support, CHETNA is delivering emergency relief to 500 vulnerable families. Each household will receive hygiene kits including soap, antiseptic, shampoo, and menstrual hygiene products as well as emergency food packages to meet immediate nutritional needs.

Please join us in prayer for the families affected and for the CHETNA team working on the ground. If you would like to support this work, please visit toybox.org.uk/donate

Your donation will help provide essential items including food and hygiene supplies to families most at risk.

Thank you for standing with us.
