January 2026 update from Toybox CEO, Lynne Morris

Updates • Jan 2026

Thank you

Hello and Happy New Year! As we step into a new year, I’m thrilled to share the impact of your generosity during our recent Christmas Appeal. Thanks to our wonderful supporters, more children now have something many of us take for granted - a birth certificate. This simple document enables them to access their right to a name, nationality, education, healthcare, and protection from harm. For children who have spent years feeling invisible, this is truly life changing. At the time of writing this update, the campaign had raised £210,570. Your kindness means even more children in street situations can start 2026 with hope and a sense of belonging. Thank you for making that possible.

Highlights from our Annual Report

Looking back over the past year, I’m humbled by what we’ve been able to achieve together. In the last financial year, 11,187 children and young people were directly supported through our projects. From providing urgent care and safe spaces to delivering long-term solutions like birth registration and vocational training, every milestone reflects your compassion and commitment to the children we work alongside. You can read more in our full annual report here.

Introducing the latest issue of street life

Our latest issue of Street Life, our supporter magazine is now live and this edition is extra special. For the very first time, it’s been created by the children and young people at the Toybox-supported Wezesha project in Nairobi, Kenya. They’ve chosen the stories, the photos, and the messages they want to share with you, and I know you’ll find their voices and creativity inspiring.

One of those voices belongs to 14-year-old Njuguna, (pictured above) who dreams of becoming a doctor. Not long ago, he wasn’t in school because his family couldn’t afford the fees. Today, thanks to the Wezesha project and supporters like you, Njuguna is thriving in Grade 7 and helping on the project’s urban farm.

Share your thoughts

We’d love to hear what you think about this latest issue. If you have any thoughts, or a message you’d like us to share with the participants in Kenya, please complete this simple form and we’ll make sure your words reach them.

And there’s more to come. In May, the next issue will be created by children and young people at our projects in Bolivia. They’ll decide what stories to tell and how to tell them, giving you another unique opportunity to see the world directly through their eyes. We can’t wait to share their voices with you.

Handing over Street Life to the children themselves has been incredible. In the year ahead, we’ll continue to create spaces where young people can share their stories truthfully and safely – and where their voices can inspire change. With your continued support, we can reach even more children, offering safety, dignity, and hope. Thank you so much for being part of this journey. I hope you enjoy this very special edition of Street Life and the voices within it.
