Training for a marathon? We’ve got expert tips to help you maximize your fundraising success!
Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Fundraising Page
1. Use high-quality photos and videos
JustGiving found that fundraisers with pictures or videos on their page raised 13% more per photo. You could, for example, share images that tell your story and post photo updates of your training.
2. Post regular updates to your fundraiser
Keep people engaged by sharing progress, milestones and behind-the-scenes of training. Updates show your commitment and remind people to donate. JustGiving found that fundraisers could raise 40% more by connecting their page with a Strava or Fitbit account.
3. Write a detailed fundraising description
This is your chance to tell your story and explain:
Why you're fundraising
Who you're raising money for
What the donations will go towards. For example, let donors know that £44 will register a child, or £22 will provide a counselling session to help children recover from trauma or abuse.
4. Be clear about your target
Fundraisers with a visible goal raise 17% more.
5. Self-donate
Lead by example. Fundraisers who start by donating to their own page, can raise 42% more, according to JustGiving.
Tips for Encouraging Donations
1. Set up your fundraising page early
Give yourself time to build momentum and reach more people.
2. Share your page (and then share again!)
Remember to spread the word and tell people in person about your fundraising too. People need to know about your fundraising to donate to it.
3. Ask about Matched Giving
Check if your employer offers Matched Giving, it’s an easy way to double your impact.
4. Say thank you
Always thank your donors. Gratitude goes a long way and can encourage others to give.
5. Keep sharing after the event
Even after the challenge is over, remind people they can still donate. A gentle nudge can make a big difference.
