January 2025 update from Toybox CEO, Lynne Morris

Updates • Jan 2025

A powerful reminder of what we can achieve together

As we step into this new year, I’ve found myself reflecting on some of the incredible milestones we’ve achieved thanks to the generosity of our wonderful community of supporters. I’m delighted to share that in the past financial year:

  • 10,309 children and young people directly benefitted from our projects around the world.
  • 4,627 children and young people were supported to obtain their birth registration documents.
  • 752 children were supported to access formal education and 2,964 children and young people to access non-formal or alternative education provision.

We also launched a new pilot project in Guatemala, utilising mobile phone technology to develop an app for official birth registration. This exciting new project aims to simplify the registration process and help accelerate progress towards universal birth registration in the country. You can read more about this initiative here.

This work simply wold not be possible without your support. Thank you so much for being part of our mission to change the world for street children.

Kenya Floods Recovery appeal update

In the autumn, I had the privilege of visiting some of the work we support in Nairobi, Kenya. While there, I met children and young people who had suffered physical injuries and faced the devastating loss of their homes, possessions, and livelihoods due to the floods that hit the country earlier in the year. They shared their heartbreaking experiences but also spoke of the hope they found through the support provided.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our Kenya Floods Recovery Appeal has raised £125,681, providing children and families with essential supplies and resources to help rebuild their lives. We are incredibly grateful for your support in making this life-changing work possible.

Opening life changing doors for street children

Finally I wanted to share some news from our recent Christmas Appeal to help give street children their birth certificates. Many of you generously supported this campaign and to date, you have helped raise over £217,085. Thank you so much for helping to open life changing doors for street children across the world, like Carmen. Your compassion is creating brighter futures for street children across the world.
