Description

  • Salary: N/A
  • Closing date: 23:59 14 October 2018

Do you want to use your experience of financial management to help drive and support Toybox’s strategic direction and be part of a movement of people working towards one goal – an end to the injustice of children living and working on the world’s most dangerous streets?

About the role:

Toybox is led by its Board of 7 Trustees, who are responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the charity. Being a Toybox Trustee is an influential and valuable role and you will make an important contribution to our current work and future direction.

As Treasurer, you will play a key role in supporting Toybox’s Board and Leadership Team to develop and implement the 2020 strategy. You’ll oversee financial, internal control and risk management matters of the charity in line with good practice, our governing document and legal requirements and will report on these to the Board.

We have a Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) with delegated authority from the Board and as the Treasurer, you will chair this committee.

Time Commitment – and our Commitment to You

The role is an important role and requires approximately 3 days a quarter, of which six days would be on fixed dates such as Committee and Board meetings, planned well in advance.. The successful candidate would serve initially for 3 years with the potential to be reappointed for up to a further 3 years after that. This is an unpaid role, but expenses are paid for attendance at meetings and other Trustee activities. Some employers encourage and enable Trusteeship as part of wider career development and corporate social responsibility. We promise to give you a full induction and ongoing development.

What you’ll bring to this role:

• A demonstrable commitment to Toybox’s aims, values and work is essential. • Credibility in your sphere of work and gravitas to help lead a Toybox to deliver sustainable progress towards a bold mission – ending the injustice of children living and working on the streets. • Strong inter-personal and relationship-building abilities. • An ability to contribute significantly to the wider Board. • Understanding of the role of a Trustee and how Trustees can interact with Toybox’s Leadership Team to best effect. • Experience of high-level strategy development gained at a Board level or at minimum at Leadership Team level. • Strong leadership and chairing skills, ability to motivate staff and volunteers and bring people together. • The technical accounting and financial skills necessary to manage multinational budgets; but the experience of having successfully managed in this environment is more important than any particular qualification. • Proven experience of financial management in a large international organisation at a senior level is desirable. • Experience of overseeing risk management and assurance.
