“Many of the schools where I work do not want to admit street children.
They come up with excuses such as they will lower the school results standard, or that the children will drop out. So often I have to demand that the schools admit them, and tell them that it is against the law to stop children going to school. Finally, when I say that I will take responsibility for their level of education, and make sure that they always attend classes, the schools admit them. I find that, once the schools see how eager and hard-working the children are, they become really supportive and help each child fulfil their potential.”
